As you perform your experiment record what you do each day onto page 28. The journal entries should explain some information about what you did that day and give some information about the progress of the experiment. If you perform your experiment in one single day break up the journal entry into hours. This should be a hand written record of the results and the activities you performed during each day or trial.

Now that you have your data you need to analyze your results in the form of a conclusion. Follow the instructions for writing each section of your conclusion on page 27. If you are an advanced student you will need to put the conclusion sentences together into one paragraph and print it out for your board and your Science Fair notebook.

Notebook/ Packet Rubric- Pg. 27
All students are required to complete the science based research packet. Advanced students must also complete a Science Fair notebook. Your notebook (three ring binder) must be in the correct order with the proper dividers. Your notebook should include your Science Based Research Project book, all forms, and typed up contents (most items can just be printed out twice, once for your board and once for your notebook).

Display Board and Presentation Rubric- Pg. 28
Create a display board following the rubric design on page 31 and pictured below.
Your display board should be organized in that specific way on a board with the dimensions of (36" high x 48" wide). Varying from the standard display board set up can result in lost points or disqualifications from the Science Fair. Your display board should be showy but not a distraction. You may paint it, print on colored paper, use fun (but legible fonts), add borders, and design elements to your liking. Remember that you want to draw attention to your board in a tasteful manner, and not draw attention because nobody can focus on anything else in the room. The application part of your display board in the lower right corner is simply 3-4 sentences describing why your project is important to society. You should have written a few applications when you first picked your project. |
